About

King Goon is a Swansea-based band that has been making waves/causing chaos on the music scene since their formation way back in 2011. With their unique blend of ska, folk and punk influences, the band has gained a reputation for their frenetic, energetic live performances, filthy mouths and catchy, melodic songs.

In 2022, the band released their debut album, “Admit Nothing! Deny Everything! Lie! Lie! Lie!” which received positive reviews, and have spent their time since playing numerous shows to promote it, including headlining stages at Swansea fringe, Brecon fringe and Gwen Gwen festival and playing at Swansea Arena.

King Goon are set to release their follow up album “OH MY!” in late 2025 having recorded the bulk of it at the wonderful Mwnci studios in west Wales. Several singles will precede the album release, with of course, massive launch party planned

Friends, neighbours, fools and Goons, all across t Friends, neighbours, fools and Goons, all across the land, the sky and the sea bed - as well as outer (and inner) space:

We have another announcement to make...

Our second album, "Oh, My!" will be released in April 2026!

Yup, we finally finished the bastard.

It's 11 tracks of flat-out Goonery, recorded at Mwnci Studios in Pembrokeshire, by the one they call Rooster - who also mixed the damn thing (with encouragement, cans and occasional opinions from Joel) and then handed it over for mastering to a fine gentleman named Gethin, him out of Hafod Mastering in Cowbridge. Top fellas, who did a top job, both.

The cover artwork was put together by an artist who works under the name Dotmaster - although I'm told he also answers to Leon - and the layout for the physical albums was done by the wonderful Graham Morse. We'll be releasing the album on vinyl, CD and digitally, and there'll be the opportunity to pre-order from our Bandcamp, where we'll also be flogging various bits of merchandise to accompany the release. We've got some real weird shit planned...who knew that you could get embroidered King Goon berets?

Anyway, the album will be preceded by a couple of singles, the first of which will be released on Sunday, February 1st and is a song called...

FILTHY STINKING RICH

There'll be more info on that release in the very near future, but we've been sitting on the video for it for over a year now, and we absolutely cannot wait for people to see it, mostly because it's completely fucking mad. Another psychedelic broadcast from the Jamie Panton school of videographic lunacy.

We'll be sharing more details about the album next week, but we'd like to thank all those who've stuck with us during this interminable wait for new material, and we hope that the gigs have helped pass the time.

2026 will be busy. I hope you're all ready for it. We're really fucking proud of this album. We poured our hearts into it, and we just know you're going to love it as much as we do.

Look at this handsome, well-dressed man! He had on Look at this handsome, well-dressed man! He had one hell of a night last night, dealing with one of the maddest audiences we've ever had. No one has ever earned a rest and a pint more. Scott, we salute you.

And, of course, we salute the aforementioned bonkers audience. Some sore heads this morning, we'll bet. Thank you all, from the bottom of our Guinness-laced hearts, for coming to our last gig of the year, and giving it your all. We're sorry you wanted more, but we were like clockwork goons that had run out of tick.

Of course, it would be remiss of us not to also thank all the other performers (Daisy Mae, Guy Challenger, Paul Edwards Band and Wild Eyed, Wicked & Oblivious) for getting up and treading the boards with us. Brilliant, all.

Paul, thank you for having us. You're a beautiful man.

See you in 2026.

But...keep your peepers peeled, cos we're making a rather big announcement later on today.

Much love,

KG. X

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls - humans of a Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls - humans of all descriptions:

Please join us in welcoming to the Goon, our new guitarist Morgan Breeze-Nelmes! Morgan has been playing with us now since the summer, but we've held out on announcing his official arrival because we're lazy and disorganised.

Morgan's appointment is part of our wider, long-term strategy of replacing each member, in turn, with a much younger musician, in order to ensure the band continues in perpetuity, long after the original Goons have died from various, lifestyle-related illnesses.

Young Mister Breeze-Nelmes has brought with him a refreshing and ennervating sense of exuberance - which initially rankled, reminding us as it did of our own lost youth - but we soon grew to love him, at least after we'd forgiven him for being 20 years younger than us.

Morgan, for his part, has been very helpful in reminding us to take our medication on time, as well as to stretch before gigs and to stay hydrated. Handily, he's a brilliant guitar player and a natural Goon, so that more than makes up for the Dorian Gray vibrations.

We look forward very much to watching him age terribly over the next few years. There's nothing like being crammed in the back of a transit with a couple of drunken, middle-aged musos, passing round a tequila bottle, to put some years on you.

I think...most of this was jokes??? Who knows anymore?

Morgan!
We love you!
Welcome!
You're an absolute fucking Goon.

PS. Morgan, did we tell you about the branding ceremony? Pack antiseptic, mush. It will not be provided.
Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls - humans of a Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls - humans of all shapes and sizes - we have a sad announcement to make today, that's surely bound to break the hearts of King Goon fans worldwide...

After a sterling and exemplary shift, lasting nearly 15 years, our much-loved and exceedingly handsome guitarist, Keith "Captain Sexy" Robertson has decided to step back from the band to spend more time with his wonderful young family.

Keith's contribution to the band cannot be overstated: in the early days, when the band was more of a noisy idea than an actual reality, Keith was the rock upon which we all leaned. An auburn cliff of strong-cheekboned reliability. He never missed a rehearsal and always turned up on time; always with a cheeky smile and nearly always with a bag of cans and two packets of fags, which he was always happy to share. A wonderful, wonderful man.

We shall miss him dearly, and would like to take this opportunity to thank him for his service to the Greater Goon. Keith played on two albums. Keith played hundreds of gigs. Keith turned up to hundreds of rehearsals across a dozen rehearsal rooms and gave his all, every time.

Keith also managed to smuggle loads and loads of untouched double rum and cokes out of loads of venues. Never worked out how he did it. We'd be in the van on the way home, and he'd reach into the inside pocket of his leather jacket and produce a tall, frosty glass, complete with ice, straw and, usually, lime. Incredible skills.

He will always be a Goon.

We love you, Keithos.

Go well.

KG. X

PS. Be excellent to each other, and party on dudes!
